  1. That's funny...I saw that same exact dress form and contemplated getting it. Not for sewing purposes, but to use as home decor (to keep a cute outfit on it, belts, and necklaces etc). I ended up getting something more visually appealing that looks like AlterationsNeeded's banner, but of course my petite clothes don't fit on it! It's used for necklace and scarf storage now.

  2. It's like you read my mind! I was looking at dress forms and I was saddened that I couldn't find one in petite and I was contemplating a child's form instead, which wouldn't be as helpful. But I did find a form that looks a bit more sturdy than this one and I think it works well.

  3. Hi ladies!

PAG - I like the idea of using a form that way! I hadn't even thought of that. Thanks to your recommendation, I went to the TJ Maxx near Alewife T station this past weekend, and I almost bought this jewelry organizer that was in the shape of a dress form (but minus the fabric, if that makes any sense). It was kind of like one of the smaller desktop or dresser-type organizers out there, but this one was floor height. I never even considered using a real dress form though!

Stylepint - Which one did you buy instead? Feel free to post a link here so anyone who is interested can consider it as well.

  4. Lol! I've definitely seen what you're describing at the Allston TJ Maxx : ) My apartment is so small that I should have gotten a desk-top one instead.

Also - that's really too bad about the Ann Taylor shoes! The color choices really are gorgeous. When I got the ones in my post, I didn't think they were uncomfortable at all, but then again I only walked around for 5 minutes inside my apt.

On the note of comfort, I also ordered some Cole Haan Carma air pumps that some ladies swear by for comfort, and they were so painful (back of shoes were too high and dug into my ankle bone and achilles tendon) that I had to return them asap. The quest for the comfortable and stylish (and affordable) pump continues!

  5. I had no idea they make petite dress forms... and adjustable ones!! This is a fantastic idea! I don't sew but I do knit sweaters, and this would be so helpful to make sure things fit as I go along. I'd even contemplated making one of those DIY projects where you wrap duct tape around yourself and stuff it, but this is so much better! And I love PAG's idea of putting cute outfits/accessories on it when I'm not using it. I think I may actually order one. Thanks for the link!

  6. Overstock shipped super fast! I got it 2-3 days after placing the order... posted pics of the dress form on my new blog at petiteXXS.com!

  7. Wait, does the form adjust torso length proportionate to a typical petite woman?

  8. Cynthia, I don't think torso length adjusts unfortunately, but you can ask Petite XXS this question directly on her blog. She can let you know for sure!
